Still recovering…… Planning 2016…. Save the date!!!!

OK, I got to admit it was a BLAST!. I am still trying to recover from all the fun. The dated for 2016 have not been officially published, but Tom’s sources say it will be April 18 – 22, 2016. The Blue Marlin (Host Hotel) only has 15 rooms available, so make your plans soon!

The registration form will be updated soon.

Sue has put together a list of things “To See” in Key West.  It is very strange how many places I have yet to see!   I heard we have over 30 people registered for the Great Battle.  Looking forward to Seeing everyone!

1. The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory-1316 Duval
2. Harry S. Truman Little White House-111 Front Street
3. Audubon House and Tropical Gardens-205 Whitehead
4. Dry Tortugas National Park-there are two ways to get there. If interested the airplane (float plane) ride out is absolutely gorgeous but a little pricey. Another option is by boat.

6. Fort Zachary Taylor Historic Park-Southard Street on Truman Annex
7. Hemingway House-907 Whitehead
8. Mel Fisher-Sunken Treasure Museum-200 Greene Street

Cardsound Road

Anyone ever taken Cardsound Road?  You may want to take an alternate on  your way down.

It is a little know shortcut that bypasses all the traffic in Key Largo.  (but it cost you a buck) Toll (or troll) at drawbridge

There is a wonderful little bar right before the drawbridge with unbelievable food. I normally do not like Conch fritters, but now this is one of my favorites.  Great food, and cheap beer.   Website is below:

Stay a day longer and Plan to go to the “Great Battle”  It is a blast!   In the past a small group of us stayed over on Saturday and went on the Schooner “Appledorf  II“, and participated in the Battle against the U.S Coastguard.  Beer & wine are provided.  Plan to get soaking wet!

This was personally one of the best times I have had in years.   I promise a great time.

(If you want to move to a different Hotel on Friday, Saturday to save cost I can make a great suggestion, on an old quaint place right on the bay, and very reasonable.)
